About Gary
Gary Diedrichs was born in Ohio, schooled in New Jersey and New York, and lives on a  houseboat in Sausalito, California.

As a journalist, he once asked a man on his way to becoming one of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted, “Tony, is it true you bomb people?” In that same spirit of honest inquiry, he interrogated porn pioneer Marilyn Chambers regarding her favorite fantasy. And as a magazine editor, he prevailed upon presidential aspirant Dennis Kucinich to judge a pizza-eating contest. Kucinich, then a city councilman, declared the winner to be a very hungry German Shepherd. (The dog also ate the pizza box.)

Gary was a radio newsman, a newspaper reporter, has written travel guides and scores of magazine articles, and edited magazines in Los Angeles, Detroit, and Cleveland.

When not writing, traveling, or rising and falling with the tides, he sells vegetables for an organic farmer and is active in supporting Slow Food, Marin Organics and the Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT).
